What Does GREEN18 Actually Do About Scarcity?
It measures, for every position, how fast that position is being consumed — and, for every player, the probability he is still there when your turn comes back around.
That reading is the whole of positional scarcity: a rate of decline measured across positions, never a property that a position permanently owns. The definition, the four value-and-scarcity quadrants and the measurement steps live on that page, and this one does not repeat them.
What GREEN18 adds is that the reading is re-run after every recorded selection, across the whole board, faster than you can read a name off a printed sheet.
The number it hands you is the probability this player is still available at your next turn, computed from the picks actually recorded in your room and the needs of the teams selecting before you.
Understanding scarcity is free. Recomputing it after every pick is the work.
What Changes on Your Board During a Run?
Three quarterbacks go in a row. A static sheet crosses off three names and leaves the order below them untouched.
GREEN18 moves the surviving quarterbacks up — not because they became better players, but because the position is emptying fast and their odds of surviving to your next turn just fell — which is what a falling replacement level looks like from the board.
The player did not suddenly become more talented. His situational value changed.
That is Draft-State Valuation doing its job, and the Superflex quarterback run walks the same sequence through pick by pick.
What About the Position That Is Getting *Cheaper*?
The mirror case decides as many picks, and almost nobody plays it.
Strong receivers keep falling. You already start two. Plenty remain and your next pick is close. A highly ranked receiver moves down your board, because a comparable player is likely to survive your pick horizon.
The talent did not change. The opportunity cost of spending this pick on him did.
A consensus ranking structurally cannot make this call: it does not know your roster and it does not know when you pick again. How far away your next turn is is the input that converts every valuation into a decision.
The scarce position is not the one with the best players. It is the one where waiting hurts most.
How GREEN18 Reads a Pick
How good is the player?
Start with fundamental player value, computed from open football data.
How does this league score him?
Scoring changes the value of production, so it is applied before the board is built.
How badly does your roster need him?
The same player creates different value for different roster constructions.
What happens if you wait?
The model estimates the probability each player survives until your next turn, from the real replayed draft state.
How scarce is the position?
Remaining depth is measured as a slope and compared against every other position, not judged on its own.
What has the league been doing?
Runs, reaches and falls are all recorded picks, and each one moves a tier.
When do you pick again?
Your pick horizon sets what you can afford to defer and what must be decided now.
What do you prefer?
Your strategy matters. Preferences are an input to the valuation, never an override.
Is a Falling Player a Bargain or a Trap?
Neither, on its own. A player dropping below his expected draft position is information, not an instruction.
GREEN18 evaluates the fall against your roster, the alternatives still on the board, the slope behind him, your league settings and your next turn.
The model is not chasing discounts. It is deciding whether a discount actually matters to you — the difference between a market price and your value, which is the subject of dynamic ADP.
The calculation is deterministic: the same board always produces the same answer, so a move on your board is always traceable to a specific pick.
Who Is This Actually For?
Managers who already know the theory and cannot execute it at pick 84 on a Tuesday night.
There are too many interacting variables to recompute by hand after every selection, on the clock, in a room full of people waiting on you.
The manager supplies the philosophy. The model keeps recalculating the board.

How does GREEN18 handle positional scarcity during a draft?
GREEN18 measures how fast each position is being consumed and estimates, for every remaining player, the probability he survives to the manager’s next turn — recomputing both each time a pick is recorded. The board is ordered by GREEN18’s own projected draft position for the league’s format, updated by the picks recorded in the room, so a position that is emptying shows up on the board without the manager having to notice it.
Why does a player rise on my board when nobody drafted him?
Because his replacement got worse. When several players at a position are selected, the best player still available at that position after the manager’s next turn drops several tiers, which widens the gap between the player and his likely replacement. The player’s expected production is unchanged; the cost of not taking him has risen.
Should a highly ranked player ever move down my board?
Yes, when his position stays deep and the manager’s next pick is close. If a comparable player is likely to survive until the next turn, the pick is better spent where the drop-off is steeper, even though a consensus ranking places the first player higher.
Does GREEN18 tell me which position to draft?
No. GREEN18 orders the players still available by its own projected draft position for the league’s format and shows the components behind each valuation, including how likely a player is to survive to the next turn. The manager makes every selection and enters it in whichever platform hosts the league.
Do I need to understand scarcity to use GREEN18?
No. The board is ordered by the calculation, so a manager can read the top of it without first learning how the slope is measured.
